At STAINDROP HISTORY we enjoy researching and discussing our findings or any difficulties encountered.
We are willing to assist anyone wanting to do their own genealogical research or any other aspects of history that people want to study.
Present areas of members’ research include: the social history of Staindrop – people, places and trades – etymology of street names – military activity in the village – WW1 project – Thomas Scarth and Scarth Hall – Architecture and ageing of the village – The impact of the Industrial Revolution and Railway on Staindrop – Raby Castle and the Nevilles.
Just starting your search into the past?…………we’re at hand and willing to help!

Next meeting the second Wednesday of the month in the Scarth Hall
