Staindrop is a largish village situated in County Durham.  It is (at the risk of sounding biased) a very pretty village with a long village green, a church dating back to Saxon times and the magnificent Raby Castle just a stones throw north of the village.  Staindrop has a population in the region of 1300, although the size of the population appears to have changed very little throughout the centuries.  Staindrop has both primary and secondary schools.  There are a small number of local businesses and shops including a post office as well as a public house.
